  • 1/2 teaspoon fine-grain sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil, coconut oil, or olive oil
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅔ cup diced dried fruits (raisins, dates, figs or cranberries)
  • Optional additions: hemp seeds, ground chia seeds, flax seeds, chocolate chips, coconut flakes (best to add coconut flakes halfway through baking)

Steps to make the Best Homemade Granola

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Next, in a bowl, mix the dry ingredients - oats, nuts and seeds, salt and cinnamon, and toss well.
  3. Then add in the wet, sticky ingredients - oil, honey, and vanilla, and mix all ingredients until all the oats and nuts are coated evenly.
  4. Pour the granola onto the baking sheet and then use the backside of a spoon or ladle to spread and push down the granola evenly on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until the granola is golden. For better evenness in color turn the sheet around halfway through. If you are adding coconut flakes to your granola, it would be better to add them halfway through baking to prevent burning.
  6. Take the granola out of the oven and let it cool completely.
  7. Finally, mix in the dried fruits.
  8. Store the granola in an airtight container or in a ziplock bag to freeze. Frozen granola will last for approximately 3 months. Make sure to defrost the frozen granola before eating, dried fruits can be very hard when frozen.
  9. Enjoy a healthy, wholesome breakfast with the best homemade granola!!
